As she spotted a pair of familiar shoes, Ageha felt her excitement grow.

Uzume was over! It had been almost a whole week since he had last visited.

 

She threw her jacket on the chair by the door, kicking off her shoes to run into the apartment at full speed. She could see light filtering into the hallway from underneath her dad’s office door, making her rush right to it, throwing the door open.

“Dad, is Uzume here to pl-” She cut herself off, staring at Chouza, sitting at his desk. As expected, Uzume was there with him. What she hadn’t expected however, was to find him sitting in his lap, nose nuzzling his neck, clearly asleep. The snoring certainly made it obvious.

For a moment she just stared, before pointing at Chouza and Uzume with a yell, startling Uzume awake. “I knew it! I fricking knew it!”

Uzume, bleary-eyed and barely present, looked between her and Chouza. “Knew what?”

Chouza lightly knocked him on the head. “Did you forget where you’ve been sleeping?” Even with his hair covering his eyes, Ageha could tell that they were soft as he looked at him, even through his exasperation.

 

She hopped up on top of Chouza’s desk, ignoring him as he told her not to sit there. “I can’t believe you never told me!”

“Never? We just started dating a couple of weeks ago.”

Ageha squinted at Chouza, not believing him for a second. “No way, you’ve been all lovey-dovey for years now!”

“We have?” Uzume’s head cocked to the side, eyes then turning back to Chouza, as if asking him if she was right.

Chouza sputtered, cheeks flushing red. “No we haven’t.”

“Uh-huh.” Ageha kicked her feet against the desk drawers. “All my friends already think you’re married, by the way.”

 

Chouza didn’t really have a retort to that.
